Wii U Basic Skylanders bundle for $198? I'll take three!

WiiU_QuickStart
The Wii U’s taken a bit of a battering in the next generation console wars. That’s not great for Nintendo, but it’s excellent if you want a cheap console.
Big W is offering up the basic white Wii U Skylanders Bundle for $198 from the 18th of June. The Basic Wii U is a little low on the internal storage side, it’s true, and you don’t get the nifty charging stand that the black Wii U comes with. Then again, this bundle does come with Skylanders Swap Force (and an exclusive Swash Buckler figure, with a tip of the hat to the always Nintendo-obsessed Vooks) and NintendoLand to get you started.
Still, why buy a Wii U at all if it’s a struggling platform? I’d say there’s two key reasons. Firstly, it’s backwards compatible, so if you’ve got a Wii on its last legs, this is an easy and inexpensive way to make the most of the Wii’s extensive back catalog.
Then there’s the Wii U’s library of games, which includes a few real gems.
If I were buying a brand new Wii U on the 18th, I’d definitely pick up Mario Kart 8, The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, New Super Luigi U and Pikmin 3 from the first party catalog alone. Bear in mind that if you do buy Mario Kart 8 quickly enough, Nintendo will also throw in a download game code to go with it as well, giving you an even larger instant library. That’s quite decent value for a sub-$200 console in my books.

I’ll take three highlights products that are not only discounted, but which I reckon are good value as well. Cheap isn’t always the same thing as great.
