Inexpensive laptops… and overly expensive ones.

Over at CNET, I’ve been doing a lot of laptop work of late.
First up, a laptop that I utterly love. Great workmanship, great performance, and it even looks good to my somewhat jaded eye. There’s just this one… little… problem.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1: “The X1 is an exceptional 13.3-inch laptop, which would have easily walked away with an Editors’ Choice award were it not for Lenovo’s decision to charge Australians way too much for it.”
And then a much cheaper laptop. Not quite to my taste, but perfectly serviceable for the market segment it’s trying to hit.
Toshiba Satellite C660: “Toshiba’s Satellite C660 solidly demonstrates that you get what you pay for. It’s not a bad notebook, but it’s not a particularly remarkable one either.”
