The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug: Extended Edition lands on digital way before its local disc release

Want even more Hobbits? The Australian release of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug Extended Edition lands on store shelves on November 12th — and quite a bit earlier for digital release.
Warner Brothers Australia has indicated that the even-longer version of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug will be released here on the 12th of November. Which is fine, but in a move that’s becoming quite common, the digital release of the same thing will be available for Australians on October 21st.

The US disc release appears to be on the 4th of November, although I can’t find any details for early US release on digital formats.
Extended editions of Jackson’s movies are quite a divisive topic, especially for The Hobbit films where some love the attention to detail, while others bemoan the rather slow pace. If you’re in the latter category, these probably aren’t the films for you.
