In terms of core specifications, not a lot separates the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ save for the fact that the S6 Edge+ incorporates the curved screen of the S6 Edge. The naming is slightly confusing, with the S6 Edge+ dropping the “Note” part because it doesn’t come with the S-Pen stylus, but it’s otherwise Note shape and size. The S-Pen now also apparently supports screen notation while the display is off, although I’m struggling to come up with a genuinely useful scenario for that feature. Neither device supports microSD expansion, similar to the Galaxy S6/Edge lines.
Officially speaking, Samsung Australia has said the following, which doesn’t say all that much you couldn’t discern yourself:
“Following the global announcement, we look forward to launching the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5 in Australia soon.”
Telstra’s also released a statement with regards to the Galaxy S6 edge+ and Samsung Galaxy Note 5’s CAT9 capabilities, noting that they’ll be the first smartphone devices compatible with CAT9 — which offers up to 450Mbps download speeds — in Australia, along with a to-be-announced Netgear WiFi Hotspot.
Here’s Samsung’s sizzle reels for each device, which (and I’m guessing here, but it’s not exactly hard to discern) you’ll see across all three major carriers quite soon.
