NBN: Is the copper busted?

The recent election result means that the NBN plan shifts to a copper-based FTTN solution. That relies on the copper as the last 500m or so of connectivity — but how good is that copper?
It’s a very difficult question to answer, what with vested interests, allegedly shaky records and, naturally enough, a hefty dose of politics.
Over at ABC Technology, Nick Ross has tried to unravel the copper mystery. No matter which side of the FTTN/FTTP fence you sit, it’s a worthwhile read.
