I’m not the greatest fan of first person shooters, but Gearbox’s Borderlands remains one of my favourites, thanks to its mix of dark humour and utterly over the top cartoonish action. Right now, the Xbox 360 download version is a very tasty $9.99.
In fact, when I was putting together my list of the top games of 2012 over at Kotaku, Borderlands 2 was the only “big” game that made the list. There’s a lot of download content that can be added to Borderlands 2 — and I’ve no doubt that Gearbox would rather like it if you bought some of that too, even though it’d be more expensive than the game itself. Still, $9.99 for this much game is an incredible deal, so if you haven’t bought it yet, it comes with the highest possible recommendation. Which is to say, my recommendation, which is as solid as things get around here.
