It is possible to roam internationally on your smartphone for the low, low cost of nothing, if you’re prepared.
I’ve just spent a week in Tokyo, during which time my phone tells me that I burned through 380MB of data. At listed rates, that should have cost me around $1140. Instead, it cost me absolutely nothing at all. Before you ask, no, I didn’t rely on “free” public Wi-Fi hotspots, either.
Over at Geeks2U Geekspeak, I run through how I managed that, and how you can manage low-to-no-cost mobile data roaming from a variety of approaches.
