Samsung Gear Fit Review

Samsung Gear Fit: Pricing

The Australian RRP for the Samsung Gear Fit is $249.
Telstra also offers it as a supplementary device if you’re already on an “eligible” mobile plan with the company for $10 per month over 24 months. Not a great saving over two years, and you’d have to hope it would last for two years, which isn’t always a given for a fitness device.

Samsung Gear Fit: Fat Duck Verdict

I like the Samsung Gear Fit quite a lot. In comparison to Samsung’s other current smart devices, the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, it’s the device that feels the most comfortable on my wrist while still covering the smart device notification basics.

Comfortable and stylish... but not overly compatible or inexpensive.
Comfortable and stylish… but not overly compatible or inexpensive.

But it’s a smart band that has some odd issues to contend with. For a start, it has the exact same price as the low-end Gear smart watch, the Gear 2 Neo. That’s a chunkier device, which is a minus, but it’s also a device that can have apps developed for it, expanding the utility of it as a “smart” device.
The Gear Fit is limited to what it can do now, and whatever Samsung decides to develop for it in the next twelve months, where, if history is any guide, they’ll replace it with the Gear Fit 2.

  1. It is a shame that the ads make this site look so crap on an iPhone.
Content fills the left half of the screen due to ads pushing out the right margin.

    1. Erk… that should NOT be happening. Thanks for bringing that to my attention — should now be fixed.
