Samsung and Apple cancel Aussie litigation [Updated]

Presumably some money has changed hands, as Samsung and Apple agree to drop all pending litigation between the two companies except in the US. Update: Now with Apple’s brief position on the issue.
Samsung’s just issued a statement (and I’m certain that’s all they’ll have to say about the subject), which reads:
“Samsung and Apple have agreed to drop all litigation between the two companies outside the United States. This agreement does not involve any licensing arrangements, and the companies are continuing to pursue the existing cases in U.S. courts.”

Update: Apple has indicated to me that this is effectively a joint statement on the end of litigation.
A brief potted history, for those coming in late. Apple and Samsung have been at legal loggerheads for years now on the international scale; in Australia this first flared up when Apple sought (and won) an injunction against Samsung selling the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia back in 2011.
It then expanded out considerably — there’s a nice legal writeup here if you’re keen and it was widely speculated (and I was in this pack) that the long running issue where Samsung devices sold in Australia wouldn’t allow for dock modification (the “Samsung Bug” which was finally fixed a few months ago) related to the ongoing legal tussles between Samsung and Apple. Neither side would comment, however, and it was a topic that clearly made senior Samsung executives nervous whenever I’d push them on it.
