Does geek culture have a genuine issue with women? Last night I was a guest on SBS 2’s “The Feed” discussing that very issue.
It’s a topic I do find quite interesting, because I very happily define myself as a geeky kind of guy, and there’s a whole raft of content that I have and do enjoy whose depiction of women is highly problematic, both on an individual level and in how it creates an image of social and sexual dynamics.
Slight content warning: I drop a heavily-bleeped F-Bomb (it’s in the context of a quote, for what that’s worth) during the piece. It relates to She-Hulk. Geek culture can be weird.*
*This is not a bad thing. It’s just a thing.
