Has Lightning Cable security been permanently cracked?

lcablewarning
When Apple changed from the 30-pin dock connector to the much smaller Lightning connector, there was a certain amount of gnashing of teeth across the iOS space, followed relatively briskly by third party illicit cables. That’s been an arms race, though, with reports that iOS 7 may block — or at least make it difficult — to use unauthorised cables. It looks like that arms race may be over.
MacRumors reports that a mob called iphone5mod has managed to bypass authentication completely with its new cables, offering a money-back guarantee along the way. Quite how you’d collect that remains to be seen… and that’s an alarmingly pink cable, for whatever that’s worth — but that aside, if it’s accurate, I’d expect to see it in cracked cables generally within a short space of time.
