This might not be “new” to some, but I hadn’t seen this interesting mashup of Google’s Street View and a map guessing game before.
The basics of GeoGuessr are very basic indeed. You’re given a street view with no other identifying information, and a world map. You click on where you think that view might be, and it scores you according to exactly how close you actually are. It’s a pleasant enough time waster — some images are easy if there are street signs or other obvious landmarks, but many are deceptive, with landscapes you’d swear were local but are actually on the other side of the planet.
I did mention it was Friday, right?
