These days it’s all UHDTV and digital downloads, but it wasn’t always like that. It used to be all black and white around TV land, a fact the ABC is now showing off.
That clip is via the ABC’s new digital series, Retrospect, which, according to its brief,
“is a show that romps through the vast ABC News archive for the interesting, the important and the quirkiest events shown on ABC Television since 1956. Retrospect is a chance to look back and reflect… sometimes in wonder, and sometimes shaking your head.”
As a keen student of history and technology — and TV is clearly a technology that’s shaped the way that Australia lives, breathes and communicates — I find this kind of material endlessly fascinating.
