3DS update allows save backups, adds games to Streetpass

Nintendo has updated the firmware for the 3DS, bringing the capability to save game data for downloadable games, as well as adding a few new features to Streetpass, although you’ll have to pay for some of them.
As Vooks.net points out (and as a side note, if you’re even remotely interested in all things Nintendo, you SHOULD be reading Vooks.net), there are new streepass puzzles to collect (or, in my head, more puzzle piece gaps in my collection, dagnabbit!), as well as four new Streetpass games: StreetPass Squad, StreetPass Garden, StreetPass Battle and StreetPass Mansion.

More fun AND exciting? I'm in, Nintendo. Show me the goods!

New Streetpass games are nifty, but there’s a catch. Each of them costs money, and I’m not talking the coins you get for walking around with your 3DS in your pocket. I’d love to say how much, but every single time I try to access Streetpass Squad, it crashes my 3DS… which suggests that there’s some code still needing to be ironed out, or, as Vooks suggests, they haven’t settled the local prices just yet.
And just like that, I'm out again. Is there a way to get my Mii to shake his tiny fist at the sky?

In any case, it’ll be interesting to see whether gamers go for paid Streetpass games to any great extent; they’re fun little diversions, but unless Nintendo has priced them very cheap, I’m doubtful about their overall value.
