Who am I?

I’m an award-winning consumer technology journalist working out of Sydney, Australia. Contact me on the above links if you’re interested in my writing work. After more than a decade, I’ve got a pretty healthy library of samples I can send you, appropriate to your needs.

I’ve written for pretty much every major Australian technology publication, including PC User, Australian Personal Computer, PC World, Atomic MPC, PC Authority, Technology & Business, Windows Vista Magazine, Netguide Magazine, T3,  The Bulletin, Macworld, FHM and Australian Playstation Magazine.

On the web front I’ve had countless articles syndicated through CNET Networks — ZDNET.com and CNET.com, as well as GameSpot.com, and I was the launch editor for the Australian arm of CNET. I’ve also written extensively online for APC, PC Authority, Gadgetguy.com.au and MacTheMag.

Less frequently-asked questions

What’s with all the kid stuff?

That’s my other gig — stay-at-home dad to three young children. As the Kidman family is spread far and wide, this blog also serves the dual purpose of keeping the relatives up to date with family happenings. If you only want to see my published work, just click on “Published” in the right hand column, and bookmark the page that comes up. Easy!

Are you related to Nicole Kidman? What about Billy Kidman? What about Sir Sidney Kidman? What about Angus Kidman?

A) Yes, in a very distant fashion. No, I’ve never met her, don’t have her phone number, and don’t have access to her bank accounts. Do you think I’d still have a mortgage hanging over my head if I did?

B) No. He’s not even a “real” Kidman — real name Peter Gruner — although I am rather fond of his work in mid-90′s WCW.

C) Yep, and you’re showing your age — everyone wants to know about Nicole these days. But the Cattle King was my great-great-great-uncle. And no, I don’t have access to his money, either.

D) Yes. He’s my brother. If you’re in PR, don’t call him if you want me, unless you’re willing to buy us both an expensive dinner by way of apology. If you’re after his details, I believe they’re available over on his Web site. See what a wonderful thing this new-fangled Internet is?
