Are Vodafone's iPad Air and Mini Retina plans good value?

Vodafone’s announced its own contract plans for the upcoming iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina tablets. Are they good value?

Predictably, Vodafone is undercutting Telstra in the price stakes on its iPad plans, although confusingly the release only specifies three models actually being stocked.
Vodafone will offer the 16GB and 128GB iPad Air from Friday, and the iPad Mini Retina later in November in a 16GB variant only — or at least, that’s what the release suggests.
I’ve put a query into Vodafone to see if they’ll offer the mid-tier sizes as well, but it’s always feasible that they’ve pinned those models — lowest cost and top tier — as the models their customers will want.

As with Telstra, the value in having a “plan” versus tethering or just using WiFi will revolve around your movement patterns largely. Always around WiFi and in the office? A plan probably doesn’t make that much sense. Out in the field and can claim it directly against tax? A plan tablet might be quite sensible.
